Continuous steel casting ensured – thanks to EtherNet/IP™-PROFINET communications

For a steel end user in Italy, the need to manage continuous casting of its product is paramount. To handle that for their application, the machine builder needed to connect a Rockwell Automation® CompactLogix™ with three PROFINET keyboards used for manual machinery control.

Connecting the keyboards to the EtherNet/IP™-based controller was necessary to enable real-time communications. The machine builder found a solution with ProSoft Technology’s PLX82 EtherNet/IP-to-PROFINET gateway. Now the delivery of important information – and continuous steel casting – is ensured.
